Tārīkh

Terms of Service

Last updated 9 October 2026

These terms govern your use of Tārīkh (tarikh.io and beta.tarikh.io), an application for learning Islamic history. By using Tārīkh you agree to them. Contact: team@tarikh.io.

The service

Tārīkh offers an interactive globe, guided journeys through the lives of historical figures, and reference material reviewed by historians. The service is currently in beta: features change, content grows, and occasional interruptions happen.

Your account

You need an account to use the app. Keep your sign-in email secure — anyone with access to it can access your account. We may suspend accounts used to abuse the service, scrape content at scale, or interfere with other readers.

Content

The content in Tārīkh — narratives, translations, maps, design — belongs to Tārīkh or its contributors and is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use. Classical source texts quoted in the app belong to our shared heritage; our arrangements and translations of them are ours. Please don't republish or scrape the content.

About historical accuracy

We take accuracy seriously: journeys are reviewed by historians against classical sources, and uncertainty is stated rather than hidden. History still involves judgement and honest disagreement, so Tārīkh is provided for education and personal study — not as a source for academic citation or religious rulings.

Liability

We provide Tārīkh with reasonable skill and care. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Ending or changing things

You can stop using Tārīkh, or ask us to delete your account, at any time. We may update these terms; if a change is significant we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
